Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is against the law. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel building that features numerous luxuries accompanying the casino, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
